Massive Phytoplankton bloom around Kamchatka captured by NASA satellite

Massive phytoplankton blooms have been captured by NASA satellite around the Kamchatka Peninsula, Far East Russia in May 2013.  This includes the Sea of Okhotsk - right where our expeditioners aboard the Spirit of Enderby are at the moment!

Click here to see the satellite images and more information about the phytoplankton bloom.

Phytoplankton are crucial to the abundance and health of other marine life, so we are looking forward to more reports of amazing marine and other wildlife from the current voyagers.
